College Students Slain

Sorry to start the morning off with such heavy news, but as I was driving into work this morning, I was reading the news on my phone and I came across this story. I was hoping I would get to post it before Ms. Scorpia (she takes ALL the good ones) and to my surprise she hadn't posted it yet...so here it goes. Four young friends shot execution-style in a schoolyard just days before they were to head to college. Natasha Aeriel, 19, was listed in fair condition at Newark's University Hospital. Police identified her slain companions as her brother, Terrance Aeriel, 18, Iofemi Hightower, 20, and Dashon Harvey, 20. These young adults were students at Delaware State and were set to return to school on tommorrow. That thing about it is that the news always talks about how African-American kids aren't doing anything with their lives and here we have a story about some that were musicians and excelling in college, whose lives were taken away too early in a senseless crime. (probably gang initiation!) Hopefully Natasha Aeriel, the only survivor, will be able to help police solve this heinous crime and bring some peace to the families and friends of these victims. Newark has one of this highest crime rates at almost 50% and these killings brings their yearly total to 60. Hopefully with this tragedy, there will be change for the citizens of this city. I pray for comfort for all that are involved. Be blessed and Stay Safe.

What is Going On in America??

First of all I would like to say just how UPSET & DISGUSTED I am at these teen aged BOYS!! We as parents, family members, friends & a community need to start taking responsibility for our kids. I am a firm believer of disciplining children. Whether its grounding, taking away privileges and oh yes spanking. But not beating.

How can we expect our kids to make it in this WORLD if we don't try to prepare them for the future, being dumb is not cool; putting your kids down because you've had a bad day is not cool; ignoring your kids because you don't feel like being bothered is not cool. Most of all, letting your kids do whatever they want is not cool. Stop making excuses for these kids and start teaching them responsibility.

For instance when the teacher calls and tell you that there is a problem with your child that does not mean that when you arrive at the schoolhouse you are ready to attack the teach when you should walk in with a BELT and an angry face to let your child know and understand that their behavior is not and will not be tolerated now and in the future.

I'm very upset about what has happened to this mother and her child. It angers me so much that I truly feel that what these teen aged boys have done should be done back to them. It is hard for me to comment on this story because ever time I read or think about it I just want to snatch those kids up and beat they TAIL baby. Excuse me and let’s take a moment, DONE.

It is time to take our kids back so that we can show and teach them how to become good civilized human beings. They already have a strike against them once they come out of the womb. That strike is being BLACK and for girls its 2 strikes because not only are they black but they are FEMALE.

It is time for these boys to pull up their pants and these girls to put on some clothes and get an EDUCATION.

Die "N" Word, Die!!!!!

Ok so my first question is why must we African-American people always put ourselves into the public eye? It is one thing to make a self-affirmation that we won't use the "N" word, but to have a funeral for it is just outrageous!!!!! I understand the horrible history, the embarrasment and hurt that our community feels when people refer to us as such..but where does the real problem lie? I mean this is the age old paradigm about how we feel when people call us the "N" word...but what about when we call ourselves that? Let me just state that there is NO difference between "N-ger and N-ga". There is nothing friendly about the word, no matter who uses it. So what I am simply trying to say is that we really didn't need a funeral, we need to stop using it, thinking about it, and listening to it. We can't expect society to change if we are unwilling to change ourselves. Respect yourselves people and others will do the same. By the way, where was Al Sharpton? LOL

Signing off,
Teelady
