NFL Star Gives a Pass!

Most people would throw the handcuffs at anybody who vandalized private property, especially if they willingly confessed to doing it. However, Leodis McKelvin has decided not to press charges against the two teenage boys who did just that. Terrell Owens has put his invaluable two cents in which don't even deserve a quote on this blog. Basically, he guarantees a playoff appearance by the Bills. OK Owens..get your popcorn ready and recline in front of the big screen!

Video of the Day

I was a little reluctant to post this video of the day, but then I thought, I hate the Cowboys so why not bask in all their losing glory! The funniest part of Owens' tear jerker press conference was his remarks about having good relationships with his past quarterbacks. He must have totally been under hypnosis or maybe he was in some drug induced coma, because he acted like a 5 yr old whining his way from city to city. Everyone deserves a vacation, but not during the playoffs. It's not time to get hidden under the skirts! Romo was just bad and the receivers even worse! So keep crying TO and remember there's always next year, so keep you're popcorn ready!!!

Boston Triple Crown?

It's time for a little sports wrap-up of my favorite teams, which all hail from Beantown! Is it possible that Boston will have 3 championships? I think so, at least that's what the numbers say. I know the whole spy gate controversy was a total damper on my Pats, but just look at the results! Let me just give you some stats so you can be on the same page even if you're not a die hard sports fan like myself. Tom Brady sets a record 50 touchdown passes, the franchise sets a record of 75 touchdowns in a single season, and 589 points for the year, which is a NFL record. The end result is 16-0! Did I mention one of the main reasons for their success? Randy Moss has calmed down and matured so much as a player. He caught a record 23 touchdown passes from the Stetson model. It's the first time that a team has went undefeated in a 16 game season. The '72 Miami Dolphins were 14-0 and then won the Super Bowl! Basically, New England is the clear favorite to win the big one.

Now on to the big three in green. Garnett, Allen, and Pierce are averaging 59.5 points this season. We've just reached the 30 game mark and they're dominating the East and West. The team's record is 27-3! The question is, can the big three stay healthy enough to keep it going? I think what Boston has this season is remarkable, they have so many bench players that piece it all together. Eddie House is a journeyman in the league, but his outside shooting has brought him much success with the team. Boston has so many outside shooters: Ray Allen 38%, Pierce 40%, Rondo 33%, House 44%, Tony Allen 44%, Posey 40%, Pruitt 33%, Scalabrine 30%, need I say more!!! The Celtics are a well oiled machine and until the wheels fall off they're on their way to the promise land.

I can only hope that the Pats and Celts can follow in the footsteps of my beloved Red Sox and bring the triple crown to Beantown. There's still 50 games left in the NBA regular season and the Patriots have a bi-week before they start their run for the trophy. Only the strong survive and in the words of my boss man, Lets go Redtriotics!!!

Jessica Simpson was a Total Distraction for Romo!

Photo by: LM Otero / AP

I really apologize for the lack of posting this week, but I was getting my other website up and running. So as you can tell by the picture, this post is about Ms. Simpson, who in my opinion still acts like a stupid Blonde chick. I mean she really does fit that stereotype. She's made millions using that persona and I think she's just not that interesting anymore. I'll tell you what was interesting though, how much Tony Romo struggled during the game against the Eagles, he only had a 22 percent quarterback rating and if you're not a sports fan, just know that it's not a good look! It became a celebrity football game. They panned to Jessica every time he made a bad throw or during timeouts. I'm like hello, it's a damn football game for goodness sakes. Tony had a similar performance when his ex, Carrie Underwood attended the game. Jessica was so irritating, jumping and having that famous valley girl look, you know the OMG face! I bet if you asked her how many minutes are in a quarter, she wouldn't have a clue! So Tony, my suggestion would be to leave the women in the parking lot and focus on the game buddy!

Safety for Redskins Dies in the Hospital After a Shooting

The NFL is mourning one of their star athletes today. Sean Taylor, a safety for the Washington Redskins died on Tuesday morning at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Taylor and his girlfriend had been victims of a burglary or robbery, authorities aren't sure just yet. The only concrete information the police have is the girlfriend's accounts of the crime. She said that the couple were awakened by noises and Taylor armed himself with a machete. A suspect forced their way into the bedroom and fired two shots, one unclaimed! What's more shocking is that eight days prior to this event, someone had entered Taylor's home and ravaged through his drawers. The suspect left a knife on his bed, my guess as a warning.

Taylor is no stranger to crime and league fines. He entered the league in 2004 as the fifth overall draft pick and shortly after that, he fired his agent. He skipped the mandatory rookie symposium and was fined $25,000! Later in that season, he was driving home from a party and was pulled over by the cops. They charged Taylor with drunk driving. In 2005, he was accused of brandishing a gun at a man during a fight. He pleaded no contest and received 18 months of probation. In 2006 during the playoffs, Taylor was fined $17,000 for spitting in the face of Buccaneers running back, Michael Pittman. It's really unfortunate when past behaviors can't be suppressed once a player gets in the league, but Taylor showed great improvement after the birth of his child, Jackie. He was like the Barry Bonds of the NFL! He rarely gave interviews, small inner circle, played hard on the field, sometimes to hard. Sean Taylor went to the Pro Bowl in 2006 despite those behaviors, because of his hard-hitting tactics on the field.

I sincerely send my condolences to the Taylor family. I can only hope that police can attain more evidence in order to arrest the perpetrator. I will definitely keep you posted. In my non-expert opinion, the suspect is probably someone he knows.

NFL Sunday

(REUTERS/Marc Serota)

Since we're on the subject of sports, how about those 7-0 Pats. I would've continued with the Patriots in the Red Sox post, but I feel they need to shine all by themselves. It's NFL Sunday and what could be more exciting than watching the Pats beat the Redskins! Also, Giants and Dolphins will play across the pond in London! The commish of the NFL is trying to push mass marketing in order to expand the NFL to Europe over the next couple of years. How popular do you think the NFL will be in Europe?

The Chargers and Texans game should be a dramatic and exciting addition to the Sunday hoopla. I have to admit, the thought of a NFL game being played near the wildfires was a little scary. It took forever for the both teams to find out where they were going to play. I totally think Goodell's decision was solely based on dollar signs. I know that the fires have died down and all, but damn to play with so much going on is a bit distracting! Oh well the show must go on and I will definitely be watching.

Boston is Having the Best Week Ever!

Keith Nordstrom

Patriots made a believer out of everybody, they routed the Cowboys on Sunday 48-27 and the Red Sox and Indians are tied in the ALCS. Manny was definitely being Manny in the first two games and it seemed like the Indians had almost given up, but in Game 2 Trot Nixon started a rally and the other players followed. The Indians put up 7 runs in the 11th to top the BoSox. Manny has been batting .500 and that's mainly on 0-2 counts. Big Papi has been hustling even on a bum knee, he's been laying it all out on the field. They shall meet again on Monday in Cleveland. I hope those damn bugs aren't flying around like they did in the Yankees series! I mean that was funny, seeing A-Rod slap bugs off his pretty face, but this is my team, so no distractions please! Boston is on it's way to having the best year ever, if the Sox can stay focused and put the Indians away. Patriots have the chance to clinch a playoff spot by Thanksgiving, how crazy is that! Lets go Red Sox and keep it moving Pats!

Reggie and USC in Hot Water!

Reggie Bush and his family benefited from $280,000 that was laid out to his family when he was still attending USC. Lloyd Lake will meet with NCAA officials and provide the goods on Bush. Now this has been talked about since Reggie was drafted by the Saints, but the investigation seemed to die down. Well I guess behind closed doors, they were looking to build a very strong case and get the witnesses they needed to put USC in a corner. Fortunately, Bush is already in the NFL, so the only thing that can really affect him is forfeiting the Heisman trophy. The school on the other hand could face other sanctions if it's proven that coaches knew or should have known about the alleged benefits. Do you really think Coach Carroll had no clue what was going on?

Patriots and Belichick Sued for $184 Million!

A New York Jets fan sues the Patriots and Bill Belichick for $184 Million! The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court in Newark, N.J., by season-ticket holder Carl Mayer. He's seeking damages on grounds that the Pats " deceived customers". I'm angry as hell too, but $184 million is going a little to far! What the Patriots have done is completely unforgivable, but they were punished, although I didn't agree with them, but the team was punished by the commissioner. I don't think any judge is going to award you anything other than a refund for your season-tickets and maybe a cool mil, it would be ludicrous to expect more!

Patriots Beat San Diego Despite Drama!

Nick Laham/Getty Images
So Sunday was a very interesting game. I was looking forward to see how the Patriots would come out after a turbulent week of fines and humiliation for their espionage. I think the consensus was the Patriots have enough talent to overcome any scrutiny from the general public and the sports community. They came out with such an intensity, ready to handle any team that stands in their way. Belichick was composed on the sidelines, even though I feel he shouldn't be there. I mean if you're going to suspend Wade from the Dallas Cowboys and he's only the quarterback coach, then you should definitely suspend a head coach!! Anyway, the Patriots routed the San Diego Chargers 38-14 and the troops left the field confident that no help was needed. The Chargers defense was a hot mess and Tom Brady was business as usual. I don't think this team will be going 14-2 when the season is all over! A source close to the team revealed that the Pats have a whole reference library that includes videos of other defensive strategies by other teams. If this is true and some of the video is during their Super Bowl championships then I wonder if the titles will be stripped and given to the opposite team, lets just say Philly!

Roger Goodell Ready to Punish Pats!

AP Photo/Mel Evans

I'm so disappointed in the New England Patriots! They're my favorite NFL team and the news of them spying is just so messed up! I remember last year when they played against the Green Bay Packers, the team was accused of spying then and Roger Goodell made it very clear that it would not be tolerated and there will be consequences if any team is caught. Well way to go Pats, such a great way to start the season off! The same video assistant that was on the sidelines during the Packers game was the same person from last Sunday's game. The league is determining what punishments need to be given. The rumor is the team will get a stiff fine and will have to give up some draft picks. The Patriots will be allowed an opportunity to present their case by Friday, sources said, most likely via the telephone. Do you think this will tarnish the Patriots good name? Do you think that the team shouldn't be in the postseason?

Are You Ready for Some Football?

The NFL season starts tonight with the Colts and Saints, but the talk hasn't been about the opener, but the revelations that Harrison and Wade Williams, the QB coach for the Cowboys are involved in a probe, much like the BALCO case. Mr. Wilson's suspension came a day after New England safety Rodney Harrison was suspended for the first four games of the season without pay. The moves stem from an investigation by the Albany, N.Y., district attorney's office into an alleged Internet scam involving an Orlando, Fla., pharmacy. The probe centers on performance-enhancing drugs, such as anabolic steroids and human growth hormone, and professional athletes. I'm telling you it's only going to get worse, no league is safe now! Do you think the general public will care about this investigation just like steroids in baseball? I don't think so, because football is a contact sport and what people enjoy the most is watching these big, strong, athletic guys tackling and running for touchdowns. So in my opinion the impact will be very little and that's kind of sad the double-standard that exists, but it's America for goodness sake! The New England Patriots are my favorite team and I really hope that this doesn't affect the chemistry that exists in the locker room and on the field. Harrison has been such a major part of the Patriots success, remember the Eagles vs. Patriots a few years ago?

Vick Has to Make a Choice and Young Should be Careful!

Michael Vick has some very difficult decisions to make in the next couple of days. He has until Friday to either take a plea deal or go to trial. In my honest opinion, if Vick wants to save any hopes of playing football again then I suggest he cops a plea and sit in jail for 6 months to a year. There are a lot of teams in the NFL that will take Vick with open arms, it will be strictly about money and the possibility of bringing more fans to the football game. The people that come to the games probably aren't fans, but when there's a story or controversy they will pay and come watch one of the greatest quarterback in the last 10 yrs. If Vick decides to go to trial, he won't be able to hide or make any excuses, because the FEDS have plenty of evidence against him. One thing about this country is second chances are common and expected in sports even though I totally disagree. Remember Jason Giambi won the Best Comeback award a couple of years ago after returning from the disabled list and the big Steroids case where he testified about his usage of the banned substance. So I would say that Vick has a 30% chance of coming back and giving a team a real shot at making some things happen, assuming of course that the team that will accept him would have a loosing record. I seriously doubt that the Patriots or Eagles would want such a headache! Vick just really needs to do some soul searching and come to terms with his terrible behavior. Dude, just face the music, serve your time and get back on the field, if the game is really what you want and competition is what you need, then I think that will rule over any endorsements that you are not going to receive. You shouldn't even waste anymore money on attorneys, save it for the day you're released from the confined space that you've been in for at least a year.

Quickie
Vince Young is Mr. Rose bowl and Madden '08 all-star, but he's heading down a bad road with his latest antics. He was benched for the pre-season opener, because he didn't stay at the team's hotel, which is not so bad, but it's the NFL and after the little mini brawl with your teammates in training camp, you need to make a serious case of dedication to your team and the league in general. It's expected that the quarterback of the Elite teams in the NFL will have a little machismo every now and then, but it's careless and stupid. Peyton Manning and Donovan Mcnabb are two of the real class acts in this league. You may have heard Owens and Mcnabb banter in the media, but never he showed up late or had a run-in with authority. Remember Young, Madden covers are suppose to be jinxed so please take head and prove the big boys wrong!!

Tony Dungy #1 on New York Times Bestseller List

Congratulations are in order, Tony Dungy will be on top of the New York Times Bestseller List for non-fiction hardcovers. What an accomplishment for a great man who had to deal with so much this past year. Dungy had the most terrible family tragedy and to rise above and keep your team focused on the prize was just admirable. I will be getting a copy of "Quiet Strength: The Principles, Practices, and Priorities of a Winning Life" and I hope you will too. I wish Tony all the success.

Nike Suspends Vick's Contract Without Pay!

Man, talk about falling to your knees. Nike has suspended Vick's very generous contract without pay and Reebok has halted the sale of the No. 7 jerseys that were set to ship out. Basically, Vick is no longer on top and all the confidence in the world can't make you think everything is okay. The NFL is becoming one big eye sore. The Pacman Jones and Tank Johnson story are added ingredients to this mess stew! Unfortunately, Vick's behavior is inhumane and torturous where as Pacman and Tank are just stupid and ignorant! The Commish has really earned his money and training camp just started. I'm hoping that the new class drafted in 2006 will stay on track, being a native Houstonian, I'm pulling for Young to remain a class act. The allegations of Reggie's family taking money and gifts has taken a back seat to these other classless individuals. I just hope at the start of the season, things will be handled and the tailgate parties will begin!

Vicks Goes to Court and Pleads Not Guilty

I had to write the latest news on the Michael Vick case. He walked up to the courthouse with a confident attitude, some people were booing loudly and walking around in doghouses. Michael Vick plead not-guilty, the trial date is set four days after my birth date, November 26, 2007. The judge released Vick on a conditional bond. He had to give up his passport and isn't allowed to travel. The judge also stated quite loudly that, " these are mere allegations". He went on to say that there wouldn't be any postponements or delays in this case. The trial will last for two weeks and Vick can face six years and a 350,000 fine. Vick's lawyer addressed the media and said that Vick had written a statement for him to read. In the official statement Vick said, " I want to apologize to my Atlanta Falcon teammates, I want to apologize to my mother and what she has to go through".

I believe in innocent until proven guilty, but it's very hard to do when you have so much evidence already given up by Vick's friends and family. I mean how can you not know that dogs were being treated in such an inhumane way at a house that you are renting? If you haven't read the 18 page indictment you should, there's a link in another post. In the indictment it states that the dogs were doused with water and electrocuted! I refuse to believe that he had no knowledge of these allegations. The messed up part is when trouble enters your life, friends and family exit. It happens all the time, because those people that you thought you can trust have now gotten ghost and told everything about you, be aware of the company you keep has always been the name of the game, to bad he didn't take head! I will keep updates has they happen....

Gisele Turns 27 and She Isn't Happy!

These two don't look so happy! Gisele turned 27 this past Friday and what she expected to be a party-filled, extravagant gift day, turned out to be baby mama drama! See, Brady's ex Bridgette Moynahan was due to give birth the same day, so it was less celebration and more waiting for the arrival of his newborn. My thing is Gisele is acting like she had no clue that the baby was due around this time. If you were going to get selfish and upset then you should have just stayed away. Gisele is the highest paid supermodel, raking in 33 million a year, that alone would take my worries away, so girl just chill out and support the man! Now we'll have to see if he's a stand-up father that will spend quality time with his son or be wrapped up in Gisele's bosom.

Reggie Bush and David Beckham

Sorry guys, I'm not trying to overload you with the Beck mania, but it's some really good videos on the Tube. I really love this video, watching them switch the roles for a few is pretty cool.

Nike Delays Vick's Shoe!

The major endorsements of Michael Vick are dropping him like a good habit. Nike will delay the release of Vick's new shoes and I expect them to quickly drop him completely. P.E.T.A. will protest the N.F.L. for their lenient treament torwards Michael Vick. I understand you want justice right away, but the commish will not make any brass decisions until further investigations from the league are complete. So, let the consequences begin!!

Vick To Face The Music

The details of the indictment are becoming just sickening, I can't even believe that Vick would participate in such treacherous treatment of animals. I don't know the guy, but just being a human being one would be a little compassionate torwards animals. He won't be reporting to training camp next week, instead he will be one on one with a federal judge. I have no sympathy at all for a cruel, classless, selfish individual who gets money from torturing animals!
